ABMail
(ACT! Bulk Mail) (NEW version 1.3 as of
1/21/02) is both a "Bulk Mail" utility and a
Microsoft Outlook link. ABMail can collect all valid e-mail addresses from the current
ACT! lookup and place them in the desired address area (To:, cc: or bcc:) of a new Outlook
message. ABMail is able to attach a text copy of your mail to every
contact two whom the message was addressed. If you don't use Outlook as
you E-mail client, ABMail can export the e-mail addresses to a text file which
it displays on the screen for you to copy and paste into any other e-mail program.
To
use the Microsoft Outlook features, you must be using Outlook 2000 or
better.
ABMail is an excellent alternative to ACT!'s E-mail composition window. You can set it to send to the current contact only. When you do this, you have the option to either insert the text of your message into a history entry or create and attach a text file copy. ABMail sells for $50 (10 user licenses packs are available for $400). It is distributed as a trial copy with a limited lifespan and must be registered (via phone or e-mail) within 30 days of installation for it to continue to operate. features have been added to ABMail 1.3. If you use fields other than
ACT!s standard e-mail field, you can tell ABMail to collect addresses from
any selected field that contains recognizable e-mail addresses. You now have the option to
attach a copy of your message (as a text file) to all contacts in the lookup
(when you record history). If you have Outlook end your messages with
a signature, an option has been added that will remove X lines of
text from the bottom of your message text before history is created (this
does not affect the actual message). To upgrade, download and install

Active Relations Allows you to draw
direct relationships from one contact
to up to 19 others in the same database. The current contact
can be referred to from up to 10,000 contacts. Active Relations provides
several lookup options allowing you to display just about any combination of
related contacts. Active Relations has it's own letter writing utility
that allows you to create templates that include data from both the currently
displayed contact, and any contact they show a relationship with.

| ActFields |
ACTFields 2 is a utility that will document the selected database structure in columnar format, with special notation on changed fields. It also has a feature that will display deleted fields. You can sort by field number or alphabetically by field name. Any customizations assigned to the field will display. You can export popups to text files for importing to a new database structure. It also will display and print out all enabled logon userids, associated passwords, and security levels, along with their unique IDs in case you want to compare with databases that are syncing to it. This is a nice report for getting a list of logon userids and associated security levels and passwords when creating a new database. ACTFields is distributed free of charge. ACTFields 3 is an enhanced version of the Free ACTFields 2 utility (above). In addition to all of the features of ACTFields 2 AF3 includes a field usage analyzer that will show you if you are really putting all those extra fields you created to good use, a "missing fields" utility that will not only detect missing "core" fields but will report missing custom field ID numbers as well. A "User Utility" that will list the users of your database (and their attributes) and can export their records to a new database (invaluable if you are performing major repairs on a damaged database), and a utility that will locate (and repair) any records in your database that report themselves as "MyRecords" but in fact are not. ACTFields 3 can output all of its information to an Excel workbook or slightly less (but no less valuable) information to a text file. ACTFields 3 sells for $40 and can be installed from our website. ActUsers
is a utility that identifies login users of the open database displaying their login name, My Record contact name, password (if you are logged in as an Administrator), and unique ID. It will export selected users to a specified database, complete with unique ID. It will also aid in changing incorrect My Record status.

| CalcAge |
CalcAge is a very small executable file that will calculate the age of a contact from a "Birth Date" field and place it in a field of your choosing. CalcAge can be used as a trigger to compute and place the age when the user exits the Birth Date field: Download the installation file to your hard drive and double click to extract it to "C:\Program Files\ACT\Macro" (you can change the path if necessary). A "Read Me" file will automatically display that will help you with the setup. CalcAge is distributed free of charge. Download a free version of the software

| CopyFields |
CopyFields is a utility that can be used in the trigger area to copy the value of specified fields into other fields. Parameters are placed after the command to indicate which fields to copy to which fields. The structure of the command would be: c:\act\macro\copyfields.exe 27,1000,28,1001 This command copies Address 1, to newly created field #1000 (perhaps Physical Address 1), then copies Address 2 to newly created field #1001. Database Profiler
is a utility for consultants who are doing a lot of design work. It keeps database, templates, reports, macros, layouts, sync, et al in separate folders. By clicking on the profile you want to use (in the DB Profiler dialog box), it will change all the file locations in Edit, Preferences and then open the selected database with its associated contact and group layout files displayed. Creating templates and editing reports were never easier. No more clicking on the layout button and having to scroll through 500 layout names. It's easy to switch back to your normal defaults, database and layouts. Demos and training are also cleaner as you can quickly switch between profiles and know that all associated files are available without any need for browsing for them. Because the files are in separate folders, they are also quick to zip up and give to client. Version 2.5 includes
several new features including ActFields 3.0. ActFields is an invaluable
utility for analyzing database useage and flagging problems with database
structure., Database Profiler 2.5 is a "must have" for any busy ACT! consultant.
Database Profiler 2.5 sells for $80. (If you are a version 2.0 user you can upgrade for $35) Note to upgraders: DBProfiler 2.5 installs to a different folder than 2.0 and requires importing data from the previous version. An import utility is part of the 2.5 interface.

| DBRunner |
DBRunner is a small executable that creates a command that can be installed on the toolbar to open a different database with associated layout. You can create as many commands as you have different databases. This one is nice for clients who have multiple databases with different layouts. It's also nice for developers who want to switch quickly from the database they are developing to their own database to lookup client information. However, here is the cool thing for those crazy few who want to try it. It will also change the sync folder location if you are trying to sync multiple databases using shared folders. No more forgetting to change the sync folder first to match the database. This is a lighter, more client-focused version of DB Profiler. It does require an understanding of creating custom commands in ACT!. DBRunners sells for $50. (A 10 license pack is available for $400) It is distributed as a trial copy with a limited lifespan and must be registered (via phone or e-mail) within 30 days of installation for it to continue to operate. | M-Notes |
MNotes is a utility that will place the same note on multiple contacts with only a few keystrokes. If you do a lookup on everyone that attended a meeting for example, you can click on the multiple notes icon and enter a note. It will immediately place the same note on each of the current lookup records. A single command from the M-Notes "Tools" menu will create an M-Notes button on the ACT! toolbar so it's easy to run when you need it. After installing M-Notes, run it by
selecting "Start, Programs, Cornerstone, M-Notes", when the window
appears, choose "Tools, Add ACT! Toolbar Icon". When you run
ACT! the next time, the M-Notes Icon will appear on your ACT! toolbar.

| PathSwap |
PathSwap is a utility that allows you to change the path for attached files in a specified ACT! database. It is used to repair UNC bug caused by Word 97 and to correct paths for files that have been moved to other servers. PathSwap sells for $40. Call for download instructions.
