Formatting

Tabs Tabs are set automatically by Word at every .5" across the page. These default tab stops are displayed as small tick marks across the bottom of the Ruler. When you press [Tab], the insertion point advances to the right to the next tab stop. If you want to change the default tab settings, you can use the Ruler or you can use the menu. Procedure: To set tabs using the ruler . . . 1. Click the tab icon. Click on the icon at the left of the Ruler for the type of tab you want to place: a left, center, right or decimal tab. These tab settings tell Word how you want to align your tabbed text. 2. Click on the Ruler. Click on the Ruler where you want the tab to appear. As new tab settings are placed on the Ruler, default tab settings to the left of the new tab are deleted. The new tabs display like the tab type icons above. To delete a tab, drag the icon off the Ruler and release. To move a tab, drag it to a new location. You can [Alt+click] on a tab stop to display measurement information. Type the text and press [Enter] twice. 3. Display the Ruler, if necessary. View, Ruler, if necessary. 4. Create a left tab stop at 1". Click the left side of the Ruler until the Left tab icon displays, if necessary. Click the left mouse button at the 1" Ruler mark. 5. Create a right tab stop at 4". Click the left side of the Ruler until the Right tab icon displays. Click the left mouse button at 4". 6. Tab to the first stop and type Delegate [Tab] Extension . 7. Move down two lines.
